This axe head pendant has been hand engraved and inlaid with fine silver to a pattern inspired by the famous Mammen axe, a Viking age axe, completely covered in silver inlay decoration. This pendant is our homage to that amazing piece of historical craftsmanship. Our pendant used largely the same tools and methods, albeit in a much smaller scale.
The pendant is suspended onto a 2mm leather cord, tied with adjustable knots. This way you can decide where to wear this pendant.

About silver Inlay
Silver Inlay was a method used from antiquity onwards all around Eurasia. There are some beautiful examples found from the Vikings, including the Mammen Axe. The Mammen axe is our main inspiration for this pendant. The white of the silver offers a wonderfully contrasting effect and was highly regarded as decoration on weapons and the finest tools that where made on steel or iron. The silver is not held in place by solder or any adhesive. The softer metal is pushed into a deeply engraved, undercut groove and hammered in.
