Each piece is individually forged. There may be small differences to the item photographed here. You are welcome to request a photo of your pendant before I ship. If you are not completely satisfied with what you have received you can return it for a full refund.
This beautiful moon pendant has been hand forged from a bar of solid sterling silver. The decoration has been made using historical Viking style punch decoration. The chunky double link chain is of a type commonly found in Finnish archaeology. This necklace is a beautiful sample of Northern European archaeo-ethnic jewellery.
The length of the chain is 18 inches. This can be changed to a smaller or longer length as a customisation.

What makes this necklace special?
There are many, many silver moon necklaces out there, so I wanted to share with you, why this one is different. It is a design that I absolutely love and I will recreate. This necklace is unique because, unlike most silver jewellery, the pendant has not been cast. The shape has been forged hot, much like iron, so no two will ever be exactly alike. This is the oldest way of forming jewellery, much replaced by the ease, versatility and quickness of casting. Still I believe there is room in the world for artefacts such as this, where every detail, including the clasp is hand made.
I use solid Sterling silver, 925, on all of omy silver jewellery. Sterling silver is slow to patinate naturally to a dark grey. On most items I deliberately patinate the silver in order to highlight the decoration or the design.
To keep the silver shiny, polish it with a silver cloth, such as the one provided. Gently rub the cloth onto the silver. The cloth will not remove the patina.
This piece has been individually hand forged to shape, not cast. As testimony to the ancient method the hammer marks have been left on the surface of the pendant. The surface has not been polished to the mirror finish you see on most silver jewellery.
All items, over a certain weight, made out of precious metals, that are sold in the UK have to be hallmarked. This is why this Mjolnir has a set of tiny stamps. The stamps tell you quality of the silver, who is the sponsor or maker, where the item was assayed and which year. The hallmark is your guarantee that the silver is Sterling and at the same time it is my signature. The hallmark is discreetly placed on the side of the bail.
More about the material and colour:
This piece has been made out of solid Sterling Silver, 925. It has been indepentently assayed and hallmarked for purity. To highlight the detail the surface has been oxidised. More information on our materials can be found in our “About Us” section.
About the adjustable necklace:
The silver chain has been made by ourselves. This type of chain is commonly known as Viking knit chain, though historians will recognise it as trichonopoly chain. Rather than being made out of individual links the chain is knit out of a single length of wire, technically it is more a cord than a chain. The method of making is at least 2000 years old. We also have designed and made the clasp.
